Vice President 2020-2022
Meleah Follen is recognized for her natural skill in convening groups and building them into strong teams with shared goals that produce actionable results. With an eye towards long-term planning and growth, she has led numerous nonprofit organizations through the process of developing and implementing comprehensive three-year strategic plans. Meleah’s certification in Results Based Facilitation only deepens her ability to effectively work with teams to enable progress and sustained change.
Meleah has served on both the Board of Directors and Governance Committee of The Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI). While a Director (2017-2019), Meleah played an instrumental role in restructuring policies for the board. Her keen ability to take strategic action helped to pave the way for a new, more effective governance model, which has spurred growth and advancement throughout the organization. Meleah’s Governance Committee tenure spans terms as a member (2010-2012), Vice-Chair and Chair (2017-2019).
Meleah’s commitment to the Association reaches far beyond her elected positions. Her committee service includes being a member of the Host Committee for The Next Chapter, Community Impact Action Learning Team, and the Governance Structure Task Force. Her experience within AJLI, paired with her vast community leadership, and her specialization as a nonprofit strategic planning and fundraising consultant uniquely position her to understand and respond to the current opportunities and challenges of the Association.
Since 2018, Meleah has served as Co-Chair of the Diversity & Inclusion Task Force for the Junior League of Minneapolis. Prior to that, she held a range of critical League leadership roles from Vice President of Fundraising to Nominating Chair, Placement Advisor and President. In her home city of Northfield, MN, she works as the Youth Engagement Director at Northfield Healthy Community Initiative, a nonprofit organization directed to empower and give youth a voice within their community. Meleah is a graduate of both University of Notre Dame and Loyola University Chicago where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
