Gretchen Garceau-Kragh is a champion for humans and animals alike. As a Junior League member for 25 years, she brings deep experience and an ongoing commitment to sustainer engagement in the Junior League of San Antonio (JLSA). Gretchen’s altruistic, energetic, and selfless spirit carries through in every effort she embarks upon both within her League and the greater community where she also focuses on animal advocacy.
Gretchen’s extensive Junior League experience spans from New York to North Carolina to Texas, giving her a unique perspective and diverse resume that reflects her broad skill set. Within the JLSA, Gretchen served as a Sustaining Adviser and was named JLSAs “Volunteer Extraordinaire” in 2019. Previously, she lent her skills to the Junior League of Fayetteville, NC, where she served as Publications Chair, and with the Junior League of Orange County, NY, where she played an active role in the Research and Development Committee. Gretchen is a Registered Parliamentarian, and she has sat on the Nominating and Governance Committees for both The Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI) and one of its affinity groups, Presidents of Large Leagues. She served AJLI as Board Secretary from 2020-2022. In this role, she was Chair of both the Rules and Issues committees.
Gretchen is passionate about animals and has dedicated years of work to their well-being. She is Board Secretary of the Animal Defense League and has held a board seat since 2015. In 2011, she founded The Cannoli Fund, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of animals in her local community with an emphasis on providing financial assistance for spay/neuter services and medical care. Gretchen also acted as Chief Operating Officer of Guide Dogs of Texas, where she managed their finances, facilities, human resources, marketing, fund development, and information technology.
Currently, Gretchen is a grant writer for non-profit organizations throughout Texas. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Sport Science from Colby-Sawyer College, a Master of Education from Elmira College, and a Master in Business Administration from University of the Incarnate Word.
