At-Large Member 2022-2024
Deborah Lash is passionate about developing teams and executing teamwork. For Deborah, teamwork is a tangible process that encourages collaboration, requires focus, rewards commitment, and creates extraordinary friendships. Collaboration has been at the heart of Deborah’s Junior League work throughout her membership in four Leagues over 51 years.
Currently a Sustainer in the Junior League of Greenwich (JLG), Deborah is Co-Chair of the Sustainer Trainers Committee. In this capacity, she works with Board leadership and the training team to implement a League-wide training focus on collaboration. Her previous roles in JLG include President, Vice President, Capital Campaign Co-Chair, Communications Council Director, and Chair of the Nominating and Placement Committee. As President, Deborah prioritized communication and collaboration within her League via the Council system. As Co-Chair of the Greenwich Pool in Byram Park Capital Campaign, she led a team of 20 volunteers that designed and successfully executed a 3-year, $2.5 million capital campaign.
Deborah has received the Betty Hinckley Award for her efforts with both JLG and her community as a Sustainer, and the Phyllis Finn Mentor Award for acting as a model to newer members. Before joining JLG nearly 40 years ago, she was a Member of the New York Junior League (NYJL), the Junior League of Baltimore (JLB), and the Junior League of Detroit (JLD).
Over the years, Deborah has held board seats on organizations with missions ranging from education to emergency response to conservation. She was Founder and Governance Committee Chair of Friends of Nathaniel Witherell, Friends of Acadia National Park, and the Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut. She was also the Board of Trustees Chair of Hood College, and Board Chair of the United Way of Greenwich. Most recently, Deborah and her husband were honored by the National Executive Service Corps for decades of community service to the Greenwich community.
