JLstrong Stores: Fundraising

Junior Leagues across the Association are taking many steps to support and encourage our members, donors, communities and organizational partners as we adapt to the changes we currently face. These inspiring stories are playing out across our Junior League Movement. We hope to capture the evolution of Leagues reacting to this unfolding crisis.

Hard work, generosity, and the spirit of voluntarism are needed now more than ever as we navigate these unprecedented circumstances and the uncharted waters ahead. Together, we are #JLStrong.

Before stay-at-home orders were mandated by the Governor, the JLMN joined the Covenant House Sleep Out program to raise public awareness about and much needed funds for safe shelter and wrap-around services for youth who are homeless.  In addition to sleeping outside for one night, JLMN Members raised over $82K to end youth homelessness.  Way to go!

When Junior League of Moore County leaders saw one of their members almost single-handedly raise $15,700 for the Boys and Girls Club of the Sandhills, they decided to try replicating the effort.

So far, their “Light Up Moore County” fundraiser, which will culminate on Sunday night, is on track to do at least twice as well.

Held their first virtual fundraising event: Build Your Own Board – with "We Olive and Stems.” In this one-hour interactive Zoom event, participants learned how to craft the perfect cheese board utilizing delicious ingredients from We Olive Pasadena, who also donated 20% of all orders back to the JLP.  We can virtually taste how good this was.
  • Junior League of Pelham, NY

Joined forces with three other local organizations to launch "Pelham Cares: Neighbor to Neighbor" with the mission of purchasing meals and essentials from Pelham community businesses and delivering these meals directly to those working on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. In their first 48 hours, they raised $30,000, allowing them to fund a project in a hard-hit part of the country for at least one month.  Awesome job, Pelham!
