2006 Leadership Development Award winner
The Junior League of Minneapolis won the 2006 Leadership Development Award for creating St. Thomas Advanced Courses, a program offering courses tailored to the needs of nonprofit organizations.
This program is designed to foster skills important for leading nonprofit organizations.
Partnering with the University of St. Thomas, the League developed a series of advanced courses geared toward issues common to all nonprofits. Access to courses is available to all members and the League funds 50 percent of course fees. Members can also receive credit towards the completion of a “Mini MBA" in Nonprofit Management.
Topics have included setting goals, creating and managing a budget, marketing, and motivating a team.
Results/OutcomesThis award funded the expansion of the program’s scope and availability or courses. The Mini MBA for Nonprofit Organizations is still available today.
