2004 Leadership Development Award winner
The Junior League of Palo Alto Mid-Peninsula
The Junior League of Palo Alto Mid-Peninsula won the 2004 Leadership Development Award for creating a program that trains members to assist the Rosalie Rendu Center in benefiting the low-income families in their community.
This program is designed to train League members to aid the Rosalie Rendu Center in breaking the cycle of poverty by helping local families build both the language and life skills necessary for self-sufficiency.
Launched in 1998, this program trains League members to teach English classes, run a homework help center, lead sessions that provide life skills training, and create play groups for children at the Rosalie Rendu Center.
The League provided funds and volunteers for the program until 2007.
