Through their experience in the organization, the women of The Junior League gain a unique expertise: the ability to identify the most pressing problem facing a community and then craft a solution in collaboration with community partners.     Urban open spaces are vital community assets, yet more than 100 million people in U.S. cities live without close-to-home access to a park. Open space has long been important to The Junior League—100 years and counting—beginning with the Junior League of Brooklyn’s work turning vacant lots into playgrounds.
